Change is the constant thing that Disrupts every field. The things which we saw yesterday may have changed today. In the same fashion, technology is continually evolving to make individual tasks more comfortable than ever before. In recent years we have seen many disruptive technologies such as cloud computing, Artificial intelligence, Blockchain,& Robotic process automation etc. These technologies are also known for their innovativeness and cost-effectiveness.

As we discussed in the above paragraph, Robotic process automation is an automation software which enables the businesses in automating the repetitive, tedious, and time-consuming tasks and thereby contributes to the overall development of the industry. There are many RPA tools available in the market and here in this article, we are going to discuss about widely accepted by a wide range of industries known as Blue Prism. Before jumping into the Blue prism, tutorial let’s discuss some essential points.

What is Robotic process automation?

Robotic process automation is a software technique in which robots or computer algorithms are used to perform the repetitive, rule-based or complex tasks without the intervention of humans. These tasks include calculations, queries, maintenance of records, and transactions.

The robotic process automation does not include actual robots or the environment to automate your business. To do this, various RPA vendors provide the software bots, libraries and run-time environment that is required to automate the business process.

What is RPA Blue Prism?

Blue Prism is a Uk based company which is into software development in the robotic process automation. This company provides the software Robots that works exactly like humans and helps the organizations in automating their back office works.

The intention behind developing blue prism tool is to make the business across the world more agile and cost effective by automating the rule-based, time-consuming, and repetitive tasks. The intention behind this popular tools is to create a “Digital workforce”.  The Blue Prism tool offers various drag and drops features to automate each step of the business effectively.

Blue Prism Features

Below mentioned are the features of Blue Prism RPA.

Blue Prism Components

In this section, we are going to discuss various components that are essential for running the Blue Prism.

Blue Prism environment contains the setup such as libraries, tools and runtime environment.

Each software robot contains the below main two parts.

  1. Object studio
  2. Process  Studio

Object studio:

Object studio enables to create the visual business object. It facilitates the interface between the applications or integration of applications.

It is similar to process studio except for the following differences.

  • Object studio does not have the main page but is equipped with two additional default pages.
  • The pages are organized in not in a flat group hierarchy but in a hierarchy way.
  • It offers some “stage” which is unavailable in the process studio.

Benefits of VBO:

  • Takes lesser time to create a sequence bot.
  • Consistency and easily scalable.
  • Maintenance of bot is very easy, and the changes made to the system need to be updated only at one location.

Process Studio:

Process studio is a place in which the actual process diagrams are prepared. This component of blue prism consists of various features such as object call, business logic, variables, and control loops etc. Each process that created, first gets executed on the main page. The method which formed in the process studio is similar to a flowchart.

It works similar to human by interacting logically with various applications. It undergoes a series of steps to complete a set of steps consistently.

How to create a new process?

To create an original method in blue prism first thing you need to do is open blue prism tool and select the Studio menu from the icons that are presented at the top of the screen.

  • Next, after selecting ‘Studio’, you will see the Process button, right click on it and you will get an icon named with “create a new process” from the context menu.
  • Name it as a “First process”.
  • Enter the details or an in-depth description of the new process.
  • The new process icon will appear under the process heading. To open this double click on it.
  • As you can see in the above image, the left side of the stage is called stages toolbar. You can use the various steps by drag and drop them on to the page.
  • You can observe in the above screenshot that in the stages toolbar one with the rectangular step is highlighted with blue colour. Whichever the colour highlighted the stage in the stage bar will directly be added onto the page if you click on it. If you want to highlight the colour, then click on the calculation toolbar to highlight it.

In the above image, you can notice how the cursor changes and has the calculation stage right next to it. You can click on the process page to calculations stage. This could eliminate the several steps you need to undergo if you wish to add the same stages to add.

Advantages of Process Studio

Below mentioned are some of the benefits that arise out of using process studio.

  • The process is similar to business objects in many forms
  • To define a process, we need one or more pages.
  • Each page contains data and various pages.
  • Mani page is the starting page always.
  • Each page in a process contains an individual tab. It allows you to segregate the process into various logical groupings.
  • The process acts similar to a human being in term of thinking and typing.
  • We are required to publish the process to make it visible to control room.

What is Business Objects?

Implementation of RPA in any organization would undergo the various process. The process needs to be contact and function with internal as well as various external applications. To interact with the external application, we need an interface, and this interface is called a business object.

  • A business object is configured in a distinct environment called as object studio but not in process studio.
  • It is developed to provide the interface to a single application.
  • The process always uses it without exposing itself to the control room.

Benefits of Using blue prism

Following are the benefits that arise out of using a blue prism.
